St. Saviours Church

Dartmouth

2021

The sandstone floor slabs around this Medieval Knights tomb in St Saviour’s Church, Dartmouth had suffered from a few hundred years of being walked upon. We were asked to carefully remove them, before replacing with new slabs from the same quarry in Hay-on-Wye as the originals. Careful plotting of the original slab locations allowed us to replace the floor around the tomb and choir stalls as closely as possible. All slabs laid on and pointed with lime mortar as per the originals.
